The 5th Annual Sprint & Splash will be held on Sunday, June 5th, 2016 at Lake St. Clair Metropark in Harrison Township, Michigan. Women in KayakSprint and Splash is fast becoming a premier festival on Lake St. Clair; it includes a variety of competitive events, as well as music, food, craft beer, and a variety of vendors. Sprint and Splash kicks off the day with a 6-mile WPA Sanctioned Stand-Up Paddle board race. Following the SUP race, is the Duathlon, which combines a 5K run AND a 2-mile paddle (kayak or stand-up paddle board). Sprint and Splash also offers a 5K Fun Run and Walk (for those who want to stay dry) and a 2-mile recreational Stand-Up Paddleboard race. The Sprint and Splash “Beach Village” is open throughout the day, giving participants and spectators the option to visit local vendors before or after their race.
Sprint and Splash is a fundraising event with the unique purpose of promoting and celebrating Lake St. Clair, which is truly the “heart” of the Great Lakes. SUP RacersIt is one of the largest freshwater fisheries in North America and also one of the busiest recreational waterways in the mid-west. By sponsoring this event you are supporting organizations that are working to improve the regional economy by increasing tourism to Lake St. Clair and its coastal communities while also striving to protect and restore Lake St. Clair, the Clinton River, and the surrounding natural areas.
The primary benefactor of the event will be the Lake St. Clair Tourism Initiative, a non-profit association created to increase awareness, protect, and develop the rich and diverse assets on and around this fresh water community.Beach Runner The goal of this organization is to educate and connect new and existing visitors about the many experiences offered by Lake St. Clair and the surrounding business and communities. Two other non-profit organizations will also benefit from this event: The Clinton River Watershed Council and Six Rivers Regional Land Conservancy. Both organizations focus on conserving, sustaining, and protecting the region’s natural resources. The Clinton River Watershed Council has a mission to “protect, enhance, and celebrate the Clinton River, its watershed, and Lake St. Clair”, and the goal of the Conservancy is “to conserve, sustain and connect natural areas, lands and waters that make the places we live special”.

Lake St. Clair Metropark will open at 7:30 a.m. for kayak & paddleboard drop-off, packet pick-up and race-day registration.
Participants will have the opportunity to drop off their kayak and paddleboards on Saturday, June 4th. Packet pick-up and registration will also be available during this time.

Facilities and Parking:
Lake St. Clair Metropark offers parking onsite, as well as a large spectator area for the event; participants are encouraged to bring family and friends to cheer them on while they race. The park charges a $10.00 daily entry fee per car, once inside the park visitors may stay the entire day. Lake St. Clair Metropark offers concessions, restrooms, a pool/waterslide, a beach and swimming area, and sand volleyball courts—all free to the public once inside the park.
