Eastpointe Memorial Library will unveil its “MiDog Little Library” book exchange at 3 pm. Thursday, June 30 at the city’s MiDog dog park, located along 10 Mile Rd at Flower west of Gratiot.
Little Libraries have become a popular way to prote reading using a self-serve site for residents to drop off and borrow books. The Friends of the Library and MiDog partnered for construction and installation of the MiDog Little Library, which is shaped like a doghouse and will protect books as they are dropped off and picked up by reading enthusiasts.
The Friends of the Library hopes to sponsor as many as four additional Little Libraries at Spindler, Kennedy, Rein and Memorial parks. The Friends sponsored a contest in which the organization that submitted a winning design received $150 and a plaque on the Little Library provided by The Little Free Library organization.
